“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” gets new composer

Just a mere three months away from release, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is getting a new composer.  No, not John Williams but someone you’re probably familiar with.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, due to the recent reshoots on “Rogue One” which pushed back everyone’s schedule, Alexander Desplat was no longer available to score the film.  Luckily the filmmakers were able to acquire Michael Giacchino, an oft J.J. Abrams collaborator.

The geeks here (or at least Erik) are big fans of Giacchino’s work.  He has written some of the most memorable scores in recent memory, having worked on “Lost”, “The Incredibles”, “Star Trek” (2009) and “UP!”.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” opens December 16.
