Chris Cornell, frontman for Soundgarden and Audioslave, dies at 52

Singer-songwriter Chris Cornell, singer for Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, died late Wednesday night in Detroit at age 52.

In a statement by Cornell’s publicist Brian Bumbery said “His wife, Vicky, and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing, and they will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause.”

Detroit police are currently investigating the death as a possible suicide said Michael Woody, Director of Media Relations for the Detroit Police Department.

Cornell’s music was a huge influence on my teen years with Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog, and then later in the supergroup Audioslave.  He had, in my eyes, also created the best Bond theme song for 2006’s “Casino Royale”.

GWK would like to send their love and thoughts for the friends and family of Chris Cornell.  RIP.
